My feeling is that HIPs will change the marketplace, in that home owners will now have the opportunity to choose a firm of solicitors BEFORE they even place their home on the market.

The Third Party Providers:
Profit profit profit.... high charges and slow response, backed by a wealth of technology investment and marketing budgets. These companies will seek to obtain your cash in return for advertising.
Generally they instruct us to carry out the energy survey on their behalf. From us they request a "membership fee", a "software training fee" and give poor payment terms. All of which gets marked up and passed on to the customer.
Estate Agents:
Mostly using third party providers for the HIPS. Some may attempt to train their own staff or form departments, but the training is to expensive because staff turnover is high.
